HOUSTON, TX -- A man died Sunday night after being found fatally injured from an apparent bicycle crash in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
Houston Police responded to the scene at 7800 Scanlock Street, in the city's Pecan Park neighborhood, at around 9:15 p.m.
An investigation remains underway, but officers arrived to find the victim, a 78-year-old man, suffering from a head injury and lying on the ground next to a bike.
He was rushed by Houston Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital. Officials confirmed that he was pronounced deceased the following day.
Authorities were not immediately able to determine whether the victim fell off his bike or was the victim of a hit-and-run crash. No obvious damage was observed on the bicycle, and it is unclear whether there were any witnesses.
The HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division continues to investigate. Officials urge anyone with information to reach out at 713-247-4072.
