HOUSTON, TX - A driver is facing a number of charges after fleeing the scene of the crash that claimed the life of a passenger in west Houston early Saturday.
According to KPRC, a silver Honda Accord was heading south on Dairy Ashford Road near Bissonnet Street at a high rate of speed shortly after midnight when the driver lost control. The Honda jumped a curb and slammed into multiple trees, splitting the car in half.
One rear-seat passenger was ejected from the vehicle, and died at the scene. The other passenger was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.
Both the driver and the passenger in the front seat fled the scene on foot. Adrian James Martinez, 24, was identified as the driver and taken into custody later on. He has been charged with failure to stop and render aid in the 262nd State District Court.
