HOUSTON, TX - The mother of a Houston Police Department Sergeant lost her life as an innocent bystander following a police chase, and subsequent crash in southeast Houston on Thursday.
According to KPRC, the chase ensued when officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle in the 7800 block of Jutland. The high-speed pursuit came to an end when the suspect vehicle crashed into two additional vehicles near Van Fleet Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard.
An innocent bystander, later identified as the mother of an HPD Sergeant, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two drivers involved were taken to an area hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
The suspects, both in their 20s, were apprehended, and a firearm was recovered from their vehicle.
