HOUSTON, TX -- Two people lost their lives early Sunday following a motorcycle wreck on Interstate 610 in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
Officials say the fatal collision occurred in the 4600 block of I-610 (South Loop West) on October 1, at about 12:25 a.m.
According to the HPD's news release, a man was operating a Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle, along with a female passenger, southbound on the highway. As the motorcycle approached the split near South Post Oak Road (Exit 4B), it continued south on the highway until, for reasons still unclear, the bike collided with the west wall.
Both the male operator and the female passenger were thrown from the bike in the impact and fell onto the ground below.
Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department responded to the scene and pronounced both victims deceased at the scene shortly after.
No other details have been shared at this time, but the HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division continues to investigate.
