HOUSTON, TX - First responders in east Houston were called to the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident involving an 18-wheeler early this morning.

According to a report by HPD, the incident occurred in the 1300 block of Federal Road, just south of I-10, shortly after 3 a.m.

Investigators say the victim, an unidentified 23-year-old man, was hit while walking in the northbound lanes of the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The truck's driver was released after police determined they were not impaired.
