HOUSTON, TX -- A woman died Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle in north Houston's Hidden Valley area, according to ABC13.
The fatal incident unfolded in the 950 block of West Mount Houston Road. Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the scene at about 5:30 a.m.
Preliminary details indicate the victim was walking next to another person, crossing the road outside of a marked crosswalk, when she was struck by a driver in a black Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling westbound. Officials observed the area was dark at the time of the event.
First responders pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. No further identifying details have been confirmed.
The driver and the other pedestrian both remained at the scene and were questioned by responding deputies.
The HCSO said they anticipated the road to remain closed for at least an hour during the emergency response and investigation. Westbound traffic was diverted onto Bunny Run.
