HOUSTON, TX -- An 18-wheeler jackknifed Wednesday morning, leading to a diesel spill that closed part of Interstate 45 in southeast Houston, reports ABC13.
The collision took place on the northbound side of I-45 (Gulf Freeway) approaching Telephone Road, near the city's Pecan Park area. It was first verified by Houston Transtar at 2:14 a.m.
The events leading up to the crash have not been made public, but the wrecked semi and spill, classified by officials as a hazmat spill, caused multiple northbound lanes of the highway and of the feeder road to close.
By 9:00 a.m., main lanes of I-45 had been reopened, but one feeder lane remained blocked.
No significant injuries have been confirmed as of this writing.
