HARRIS COUNTY, TX -- One person died last Wednesday, October 4, after a crash involving an 18-wheeler off Beltway 8 in northeast Houston, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
HCSO units responded to the scene in the 12100 block of the highway (East Sam Houston Parkway) on October 4, shortly after 3:50 p.m.
According to investigators, a passenger vehicle ran a red light moments before it entered the path of the big rig, causing the car to be hit on its right-side door.
The passenger of the car succumbed to their injuries at the scene, confirmed officials.
First responders had the driver of the car flown by Life Flight medical helicopter to an area hospital, where the patient was listed in critical condition.
Authorities have not released the identities of the victims, and no pending charges have been reported at this time. The HCSO's Vehicular Crimes Division continues to investigate.
