HOUSTON, TX -- One person died Sunday evening following a multi-vehicle crash in north Houston involving several hit-and-run suspects, reports ABC13.
The events unfolded at 101 Canino Road, at the intersection with Airline Drive.
Authorities say the victim was driving a gray car eastbound on Canino at the same time the suspect was operating a silver truck southbound on Airline Drive. At one point, the suspect ran a red light, causing the silver truck to T-bone the victim's car at the intersection.
The victim, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected from the car and then subsequently hit by the vehicle as it came to rest on top of him.
Several witnesses at a nearby tire shop rushed to the scene and used jacks in an attempt to raise the vehicle, but the male driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Following the wreck, the driver and an unspecified number of passengers from the suspect vehicle fled the area on foot. At the time of ABC13's report, authorities still have not been able to locate the suspects.
