HOUSTON, TX -- A man died following a head-on collision late Thursday in Houston's Greater Heights neighborhood, according to ABC13.
The fatal wreck took place on a stretch of North Shepherd Drive near West 7th Street, west of Lawrence Park. It was first reported at around 11:30 p.m.
Houston Police said a woman was operating an SUV against traffic when the vehicle collided head-on with the victim's white passenger car. Preliminary details indicate the vehicles were both traveling toward the crest of a hill that prevented the drivers from seeing each other in the moments before the accident.
The male driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, was pronounced deceased at the scene by first responders.
The woman was transported to an area hospital for an evaluation of unspecified injuries. Officials indicated that her condition is not serious.
An investigation remains underway as the HPD works to determine whether the woman was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
