HOUSTON, TX -- Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash Wednesday evening in southwest Houston that claimed the life of a 25-year-old woman, according to the Houston Police Department.
The fatal incident unfolded in the 10800 block of Beechnut Street, just south of the Little Saigon area, at around 8:05 p.m.
According to the HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division, the woman was observed stumbling as she crossed the eastbound side of the road. While in the roadway, she fell and was subsequently hit by an eastbound driver in a white Ford F-150 pickup truck.
Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department confirmed the victim died from her injuries at the scene. Her identity remains undisclosed at this time.
Authorities said the driver, a 61-year-old man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers. The HPD said he was determined to be unimpaired and was released from the site after questioning.
An investigation remains open and ongoing.
