HOUSTON, TX -- Authorities responded to the scene of a fatal pedestrian crash Friday morning on Interstate 45 near downtown Houston, according to ABC13.
The incident occurred on the southbound lanes of I-45 at Memorial Drive, near the city's Theater District. It was verified by Houston Transtar shortly before 6:00 a.m.
Houston Police have not released any information regarding the circumstances of the event, the location of the victim at the time, or the type of vehicle involved. It was not immediately clear whether the driver remained at the scene.
A section of the southbound interstate was shut down during the response, creating major delays for morning commuters. A tractor-trailer and hazmat incident on the northbound freeway at Beltway 8 also had all main lanes closed.
By 10:30 a.m., the fatal pedestrian crash scene had been cleared and all lanes were reopened to traffic.
