HOUSTON, TX -- A 23-year-old man died last Tuesday afternoon, November 21, after a double-motorcycle crash involving a box truck on Interstate 10 in east Houston, reports the Houston Police Department.
The collision occurred in the 12600 block of I-10 (East Freeway), in the Northshore area, at around 2:45 p.m.
Preliminary details show the young man was operating a red Kawasaki motorcycle westbound alongside operator on a blue Suzuki motorcycle. Both motorcyclists were traveling at high rates of speed when they entered a space between a white box truck a tractor-trailer. At one point, the Kawasaki collided with the back of the box truck, causing the rider to eject. The crash also caused the rider of the Suzuki to be thrown from his bike.
Responding paramedics with the Houston Fire Department pronounced the operator of the Kawasaki deceased at the scene.
The operator of the Suzuki was rushed to an area hospital where they were listed in stable condition.
Authorities said the driver of the box truck, who stayed at the crash site and cooperated with officers, was released from the scene after it was determined that he was not impaired.
The HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division continues to investigate.
