HOUSTON, TX -- A man died Thursday night after he abruptly exited a vehicle and was hit by a vehicle while trying to cross the Interstate 45 feeder road in north Houston, according to Click2Houston.
The fatal incident occurred on a stretch of the I-45 (North Freeway) service road at Little York Road, in the Northside/Northline area.
Houston Police Department officials said the man was initially a passenger in an Uber that was traveling on the interstate when he became engaged in an argument with the driver. Preliminary reports indicate that after he asked the driver to stop the vehicle so that he could get out, he tried to cross the feeder road. Before the male pedestrian could make it across the road, he was hit by another car.
First responders pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. His identity has not been disclosed at this time.
Although the driver of the striking vehicle allegedly continued away from the scene, they were said to have returned to the site after an hour. It remains unclear whether the driver will face charges.
