HOUSTON, TX -- A 51-year-old man died Saturday afternoon following a high-speed single-vehicle crash in northwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
The accident occurred in the 1400 block of West 43rd Street, on October 21, at about 2:55 p.m.
A preliminary investigation found that the man was operating a black GMC Sierra pickup truck eastbound and at a high rate of speed. At one point, he lost control of the pickup, causing it to veer off the roadway and hit a tree on the street's south end.
Responding paramedics with the Houston Fire Department rushed the male driver to Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital, where he died from his injuries, confirmed officials.
Authorities said no other people or vehicles were involved in the wreck.
An investigation by the HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division was underway.
