HOUSTON, TX -- A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged following a multi-vehicle wreck Sunday morning in north Houston that claimed another person's life, reports the Houston Police Department.
The fatal collision took place in the 6600 block of Airline Drive, in the city's Northside/Northline neighborhood. It was first reported at about 6:30 a.m.
Preliminary details show the suspect, Brayan Barrera, was driving a white Ford F-150 pickup truck southbound. Moments after the pickup entered the intersection with East Parker Road, it struck a white Chevrolet Impala traveling eastbound. The impact of that crash sent the Impala crashing into a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was stopped on northbound Airline Drive at the red light.
The driver of the Impala, whose identity has not been disclosed, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.
No injuries to the driver of the Silverado, a 33-year-old man, and his passenger, a 37-year-old woman, were reported.
Barrera, who displayed signs of intoxication at the scene, was taken into custody. He faces a charge of "driving while intoxicated" under Harris County Criminal Court #4.
The HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division continues to investigate.
