HOUSTON, TX -- One person was rescued following a rollover crash Wednesday morning that left a box truck near the edge of an Interstate 45 overpass in north Houston, reports ABC13.
The accident happened on southbound I-45 (North Freeway) at Crosstimbers Street, in the Independence Heights area. Houston firefighters responded to the scene some time before 8:23 a.m.
While the circumstances of the wreck remain unclear, a box truck overturned on an HOV exit lane and nearly fell off the side of the highway overpass.
Despite the semi's precarious position, fire crews were able to hoist the driver from the passenger side window using a harness. The patient was then rushed by ambulance to an area hospital for unspecified injuries.
A section of the southbound interstate was shut down as firefighters worked to right the vehicle.
No further information has been made available at this time.
